Bonjour my friends! First and foremost, thank you so much for subscribing to EXTRA SHARP! I’m so excited to have this new platform to share my cheesy findings and connect with you. If you happen to follow my Instagram, you might have seen that I’ve been in Paris for the past week. I originally booked this trip for a friend’s wedding in the countryside, but felt a deep need to explore Paris for all of the magic it has to offer - so I tacked on an extra week.

If you are a lover of cheese, this is the place for you. Beautifully designed fromageries (cheese shops) line the streets, with their own unique character and charm. The most stunning shapes of soft-ripened goat cheese, gooey camembert de Normandie and massive wheels of Comté fill the shelves, ready to be enjoyed. Although most people here prefer to speak in French, this trip proved to me that cheese is a universal language. Every cheesemonger I met was so friendly and quick to give me samples.

When it comes to travel, I’m a big planner. I love my lists on Google Maps and I usually tend to follow an itinerary. Paris however taught me to loosen up a bit. The key to this city is to wander, to slow down, and eventually you’ll end up where you’re meant to be. Each day I had a few places in mind, and let the day unfold from there. Below I compiled a list of my favorite spots. As a note: most neighborhoods in Paris are designated by numbered “arrondissements.” For example, the Eiffel Tower is located in the “7th Arr.” You can also check out all of my stories under the “Paris” highlight on Instagram for more photos and videos!
CHEESE SHOPS I LOVED
Honestly, you can’t go wrong with the cheese shops in Paris. It’s what they do best. Here are some favorites in no particular order!
Barthélémy (6th Arr) - Quaint shop with a beautiful display and funky tile floors
Chez Alexandre (6th Arr) - Modern vibes with an amazing selection
Frescolet (9th Arr. / Pigalle) - More of a minimal interior, very helpful staff!
La Ferme Saint-Aubin (Île Saint-Louis) - An old school, classic shop on the island of Saint-Louis
La Grande Épicerie de Paris (6th Arr) - This is a massive gourmet grocery store but the cheese section is UNREAL.
C.O.W (Latin Quarter) - We took an AMAZING cheese class here taught by Fab from Le Cheese Geek. Highly recommend! This is also one of the only cheese shops in Paris that sells a wide range of international cheese
Le 17.45 (Multiple Locations) - This was the DIY cheese board restaurant. A must!
Favorite French cheese findings: Rocamadour (soft ripened goat cheese), Roquefort (sheep’s milk blue), Reblochon (washed rind cow’s milk cheese), La Tomme aux fleurs (cow’s milk with dried flowers on the rind), Morbier (semi-soft cows' milk cheese)
