Welcome back to Extra Sharp! Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, and although I don’t have a ~valentine~ this year, I’m still celebrating with sweet treats and my gal pals. Don’t let social media trick you into feeling unworthy just because you don’t have that dreamy picturesque date night filled with rose petals next to the Eiffel Tower. I’m here to bring you some fun (and accessible) ways to add a little spice to your hangs with lovers, family and friends!
That “Cheese Date” Plate
This is one of my favorite plates from my latest book That Cheese Plate Wants To Party. It can serve up to four people, perfect for a double date or a little Galentine’s celebration. The highlights of this plate are the warm blue cheese stuffed dates with speck and candied ginger, the buttery goat brie and the festive prosciutto roses.

KEY
1 - CHEESE: Goat Brie, Sottocenere al Tartufo (Italian truffle cheese, you can substitute with any other truffle cheese if you can’t find this! )
2 - MEAT: Prosciutto Roses - Check out my charcuterie folding guide here
3 – PRODUCE: Raspberries, Warm Dates with Blue Cheese, Speck and Candied Ginger (Recipe at the end of the newsletter)
4 - CRUNCH: Marcona Almonds, Cocoa Dusted Cashews, Seeded Crackers
5 - DIP: Strawberry Champagne Jam
6 - GARNISH: Fresh Thyme
If you follow That Cheese Plate on Instagram, you may have seen my Simple Fancy Bites series. Each plate in That Cheese Plate Wants To Party has four “bite builders” to show you the perfect pairings with the ingredients listed. This also gives you the option to simply serve the bites instead of making the entire cheese plate. My most recent pairing was inspired by the cheese plate above!
THE BITE: Goat Brie, Raspberry Jam, Raspberries + Seeded Cracker
TASTING NOTES: Milky, buttery, salty, sweet, juicy
PAIR WITH: A sparkling rosé
